A few months ago my family and I did a parasite cleanse, and I’m sure you might be wondering why I’m telling you this. But trust me, by the end of this blog post, you’ll understand.
So as I was saying, my family and I did a parasite cleanse, and when I tell you it was horrid, I mean it. It was a 14-day cleanse, and every morning we had to drink two mason jars full of bitter herbs. The taste alone made my sister and I feel so sick, and on top of that, we dealt with a lot of stomach discomfort. Honestly, it was 14 days of pure misery. There were many days we wanted to give up.
I remember one day in particular when one of my family members started experiencing some weird changes. After doing some research, we found out that it was actually a symptom of the parasites dying off. That gave all of us a little hope and motivation to keep going.
The cleanse was hard. We couldn’t eat too many things, we had to drink bitter herbs every morning, and we couldn’t leave the house because of the bowel movement tea. But as I sat and thought about what we were going through, I started to see a spiritual lesson in it all.
In life, our trials and tribulations come to make us stronger. They’re like the bitter herbs—going in and purifying our character, removing the parasites that plague our bodies and souls. The process is not always easy, and sometimes it really hurts. But when we start to see the results of our cleansing, it should give us hope. It reminds us that God doesn’t waste His time on anything worthless.
Sometimes He has to isolate us so He can do the work He needs to do in our lives without distractions. He may remove people from our lives that He knows aren’t good for us, and that can be painful. He may have you face your worst fears so that you can finally overcome them. God works in all kinds of ways to save us and change our character.
So when things get hard, don’t give up. That very moment when you feel like quitting could be when the die-off is happening—the die-off of sin, self, and Satan.
As you go through your cleansing season, hold on to hope. Know that God sees something in you that’s worth saving. And at the end of all your trials and hardships, you’ll come forth as pure gold, tried in the fire and victorious.
So my encouragement to you is this: let God remove the parasites from your life, no matter how hard the process may be.
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”
