  • Fall: A Season of Letting Go and New Beginnings 🍂

    September 22nd, 2026

It’s the first day of fall, which is my favorite season. I love the beginning of fall, right before it gets too cold, when the weather starts to cool, the woodstove begins to blaze, and the tea kettle starts to sing. Oh, what a cozy time of year it is!

Fall is a lovely reminder of a few things, one of them being that, in order to become new, we have to go through a process of letting go of the old. This can mean letting go of old habits, ways of thinking, speaking, and acting, or even things we have grown accustomed to that are no longer helping us become the person God is calling us to be.

  • True Modesty: More Than What You Wear

Modesty is not just about the way you dress; it also includes the way you carry yourself, the way you talk, the way you walk, and the way you treat others. You can wear a long dress and still be loudmouthed; you can wear skirts and still be very rude. Don’t get me wrong, the way we dress is very important, but how we act is just as important, if not more important, than what we wear.

  • Be a Root Friend

I recently came across a post about friendship that really stuck with me. It said that in life, you have three types of friends: leaves, branches, and roots.

Leaves are seasonal friends. They are there when life is good, when things are fun and carefree. But as soon as the storms come, the winds blow, and life gets hard, they fall away.

  • Stay Hydrated: Body and Soul

Yesterday I was out doing some yard work. It was so hot outside that I was sweating like I was in a sauna. The sun was beating down on me, and even with my sunhat on, it didn’t help. It was just that hot. I was so determined to finish cutting the grass that I didn’t take enough breaks to rehydrate, which led to me having a really bad headache and feeling completely drained for the rest of the evening. Later that day, I was texting with a friend of mine. We were just catching up, talking about how our days had gone. I mentioned that I had been out doing yard work in the heat and wasn’t feeling too well afterward. Toward the end of the conversation, he asked me what lesson I had learned while working outside.

  • Warriors of Faith: Embracing Life’s Battles with Christ as Our Commander

God gives His strongest warriors the roughest battles. And to be honest, that’s what gets me through life. Life is a constant battle of good and evil. Each and every day, we are surrounded by darkness, and we have to keep our eyes fixated on Christ, our General, knowing that with Him on our side, we will win any battle.

  • Finding Peace in the Storm: Trusting God Through Life’s Challenges

One morning, I was awakened by the sound of thunder and rain. When I opened my eyes, I saw lightning flashing through my window. It was about 3 a.m. when I woke up, so I took it as a sign that the Lord wanted me to seek Him in prayer. There, in the darkness, with the storm raging all around me, I got on my knees and prayed—not only for myself but for my friends, family, and all those I love. After spending some time in prayer, I decided, since I was already awake, I might as well have my devotional. After finishing my reading, the Lord inspired me to write, and that’s when I realized why He had woken me up so early.

  • Living Like a Traveler: Keeping Your Focus on Heavenly Things

You’re going on a trip and you’ll be staying in a hotel, what do you usually pack? Of course, some outfits, toiletries, and a few other personal items. When I go on a trip, I pack only the things that are necessary and leave behind the things that aren’t.
