Will This Glorify Christ?
If we truly asked ourselves this question every day, we would make better choices in the things we watch, the conversations we have, the people we associate with, and the things we listen to. Nothing in life is too small to consider this question: “Will this glorify Christ?” Everything we do should bring glory to God—through the way we speak, dress, the conversations we engage in, the movies we watch, and the music we listen to.
So, how do we do this? When you’re choosing clothes for the day, take a moment to look in the mirror and ask yourself, “Would I feel comfortable walking next to Jesus in public with what I’m wearing? Would this bring glory to Him?” When you’re on the phone and the person you’re speaking with starts gossiping about someone else, ask yourself, “By listening (which also makes me guilty), am I glorifying Christ?” When you sit down after a long day to relax and watch a movie, ask, “Would Jesus watch this with me? Is this film bringing any glory to Christ?” When you’re cleaning the house and playing music, ask yourself, “Would I need to quickly turn this off if Jesus were to visit me unexpectedly?” Christ wants to dwell with us always, and we should always be in a place where we are ready to receive Him—by living daily in accordance with His will. Jesus is coming soon, and we don’t have time to sit on the fence. We are either living for Christ and glorifying Him in all we do, or we are living for the devil. There is no middle ground, and the fence belongs to Satan. So today, let’s strive to glorify Christ in every word and action.
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
